Irvine is the fastest out of all the playable characters that Squall fights with. His magical stats aren't that high, however he is a formidable opponent when fighting with his shotgun. I often used him with the other two male characters, Squall and Zell to fight in a lot of battles. He fights very well on flighted creatures, especially ones that are out of range for the other characters.
