Profile

Ultimecia is the villain (or one of them at least) of the award winning RPG, Squaresoft's FFVIII.

We first encounter this devilishly clever and ruthless sorceress after the defeat of sorceress Edea and Seifer at the ending of disc two. All this time, she has possessed the Sorceress Edea, who once took care of Squall and the rest of your party (except Rinoa). When she has been defeated, Rinoa runs to aid Seifer, whom she still has feelings for, and Ultimecia possesses Rinoa.

She falls into a coma from which it seems, she will never awaken. The only possibility is for her and two others (Squall and someone else that you can choose yourself), to go up to the Lunar Base. Rinoa, who appears to be in some sort of trance, miraculously leaves the chamber where she was to be attended to, and makes her way to the control room, throwing anyone back (with magnificent powers) who should try to stop her.

In the control room, we must watch as she breaks the seal on yet another Sorceress's tomb, the evil (and manly) Sorceress Adel, who in her time ruled Esthar ruthlessly until one resistance group became successful in their plans. The final seal rinoa, who is possessed by Ultimecia, must break is on the tomb itself, so she ventures out into space and deactivates the seal.

At this point, Ultimecia abandons her and leaves her to die in space. Her oxygen supply runs out before Squall can reach her, but phenomenally, she survives. She and Squall find the Ragnarok, a lost spaceship from which the crew were killed by the eight monsters that inhabit the ship.

Because Rinoa survived the space incident, she is still in danger of being possessed by the Sorceress from the future, whose ultimate goal is to dominate the world. Thus, Rinoa must be entombed as Adel was at the Sorceress memorial. Squall, who realizes what a mistake he is making, thanks to whomever else you took with you into space,    'rescues' Rinoa from the memorial. They embrace, and we see no more of Ultimecia for a while.

We do, however, fight Adel at the end of disc three, whose motive is unknown. Perhaps she is possessed by Ultimecia, as Rinoa and Edea were, or perhaps she wants to dominate the present world as she did centauries ago.

The next time we encounter ultimecia directly is at the end of the game, in her castle in the future. You, as SeeDs, are the only thing that stands in her way from compressing time. You must destroy her and her guardian force, griever, to save the world.

Ultimecia's external; appearance is somewhat strange, though not as strange or ugly as her interior appearance. Throughout the game, you will see her as a pale, amber-eyed, grey-haired witch. What can only be described as purple 'body art' covers parts of her face and body. She wears her hair in an unusual way, with two straight locks hanging from either side of her head, and two 'horns' also on opposite sides. Her outfit is rather revealing and unusual. All she seems to wear is a long, scarlet 'coat' with a black fur rim at the neck. The front of the coat doesn't seem to meet in the middle, but hangs miraculously over parts a young child wouldn't be fit to see.

Her internal form, however, is only seen in the final battle, once you have defeated her and Griever combined. She becomes nothing that can be described any more flatteringly than a soul-sucking demon. Her face becomes a cave, in which it seems a lit candle is planted, she gains many arms and you can see what i consider to be her 'alienated organs'. A cloak covers the place where her legs would be, but instead of legs is an old lady (perhaps an older Ultimecia?) is hanging upside down, crossing her arms over her chest.
